Although it can be hard to imagine a glamorous Hollywood party scene without sipping on glasses of champagne, these single celebrities have proven you can still party, enjoy yourself all while embracing the sober life.
Trauma and mental health issues do not discriminate. No matter how bright your star shines on Hollywood Boulevard, at the end of the day we are all human. Just when you thought you had nothing in common with the latest “it” girl or guy, here are 12 celebrities that have taken the time to make their healing and changing their relationship with alcohol a priority. Remember, you aren’t missing out on anything when you are getting your shit together.

Mike Posner
The singer publicly announced why he stopped drinking alcohol in a tweet back in 2015 that was linked to a tell-all article on the subject. Posner explains his messy pattern of addiction throughout the excerpt, noting “I decided I couldn’t let alcohol rob me of enjoying my life’s special moments.”
In a 2014 interview with Refinery 29, he said he wasn’t interested in a celebrity girlfriend and is looking for a “normal” girl. Right now I'm focused on just sharing my gift in music.
Brad Pitt
The actor opened up most recently in his GQ Style cover story this year about the struggles he has faced with alcohol addiction in the past. When asked about his experience going cold turkey, he simply explained “I didn’t want to live that way anymore.” Brad has always been one of Hollywood’s hottest men, and now he’s an eligible bachelor. The A-List actor has made his way around the Los Angeles dating scene, but he is currently single.
Eminem
After the rapper struggled with dangerous addictions to both alcohol and drugs for many years throughout his early career, Eminem is finally making his way back to music sober with a knock out performance at the Super Bowl and with rumours of a new album dropping. In an interview with Rolling Stone, the rapper said he finds it hard to find someone that he can trust. “I mean, I’d like to be in a relationship again someday. Who doesn’t?”
Gerard Butler
The Scottish actor struggled for years with addictions to both drugs and alcohol before seeking treatment. Now 20 years later, Butler is still embracing the sober life. He told People that he was single and looking to start a family in five years. “In five years I want to be in a relationship, I’d love to have one or two kids – it’s about time.” Through clarity from sobriety and being comfortable with himself he also confirmed his bi sexuality, love is love!
Colin Farrell
The Irish actor opened up about celebrating 10 years of his sobriety on Ellen after years of previously struggling with his addiction when he first got to Hollywood. Farrell also admits his coping mechanism: “Now I do a bit of yoga, I like a nice hike and I drink dragon nasal juice.”
The actor admitted that he is currently single, and dedicated to working on himself and is personal growth.
Edie Falco
The Nurse Jackie star has been sober for almost 25 years now, admitting that the support of her friends and family is truly what has helped her the most. Falco says she would still consider marrying if she found the absolute right person, which seems fitting. Part of wanting love in your life means being open to it wherever you find it
Kristin Davis
This Sex and the City star was quoted in a passage by Marie Claire U.K. expressing how she didn’t think she would make it past the age of 30. Davis admitted “I realized it was not going to end well. I got into the acting program, it was very challenging, I was hungover and I wasn’t doing so well in my classes. I thought, “Do you know what? It’s going to be one or the other. I can’t really have both.”
During a 2019 interview with Red Table Talk, Davis told hosts that she didn’t deliberately form a plan to be single at that point in her life — it’s just how things turned out. But she added, “I do remember being young and thinking, ‘Why are all these people getting married?'” Kristin Davis didn't marry, but she has two children: daughter Gemma Rose, who she adopted in 2011, and son Wilson, who she adopted in 2018.
Bradley Cooper
The actor discussed his sobriety in his GQ cover story back in 2013, explaining that at the age of 29 he felt “if I continued it, I was really going to sabotage my whole life.” Currently, Bradley is single and living with his mother and 3-year-old daughter at his farmhouse. He was in a relationship with Irina Shayk till 2019 and is enjoying focusing on family.
Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato has also been bold and in her public transparency regarding her struggle with bipolar disorder, bulimia, self-harm, and substance abuse. She currently identifies as Cali sober.
”I realized that I am the type of person that will find any way to regulate when I’m sad or lonely or whatever. I have to fight those battles on my own and I can’t let somebody come in and fix those issues for me. So right now, I’m single and spending my Saturday nights by myself.” Demi has been very open about her sexuality and identifies as non binary. "Love is the most important thing in the universe. I'll never stop believing in it even when I want so badly to give up on it," they said.
Drew Barrymore
Drew Barrymore has revealed that she has been sober for more than two years, after realizing that alcohol did not “serve her” or her life. The actor opened up about her sobriety during an interview on CBS Mornings, telling hosts that quitting alcohol gave her a feeling of “empowerment.” Barrymore said she has been single for six years and has been on some dates, but only recently. "I'll go on an occasional date but that's only in the last two years," said Barrymore. It took me four years to get back out there.
Cheryl Burke
“I am really committed to staying sober, and I know that the first thing to do when you have those anxious feelings is to be able to talk about it. It’s one day at a time.” Being alone is helping her to deal with her emotions amid her split from Matthew Lawrence.
