You have probably heard the term "change your mindset, change your life." Well, how do you start to change your own mind? You start with your inner thoughts and dialogue. Words and your inner voice are extremely important, especially when you are trying to make a change. 

I have demystified the 6 key common thoughts and limiting beliefs about alcohol to change your own mind and habits now!


1. Limiting Belief:

"I enjoy a drink to help me relax"

Truth Statement: Alcohol dulls my senses and this feeling of "relaxation" allows me to turn my thoughts and feelings off.


2. Limiting Belief:

"I drink to be social"

Truth Statement: I crave connection. I enjoy gatherings and may be anxious and drink to feel closer to others, feel included, and use alcohol to connect.


3. Limiting Belief:

"I work hard and deserve a reward"

Truth Statement: I work hard and deserve to treat myself with something that isn't poisonous and doesn't control and interrupt my life.


4. Limiting Belief:

"I don't think I can give up drinking because I have failed in the past"

Truth Statement: I am learning about myself. Alcohol is addictive and I have been using it to cope with events in my life. I can and will try again. I will seek resources like the 30 Days to Gain Challenge to continue my journey.


5. Limiting Belief:

"If I stop drinking, I will be bored."

Truth Statement: Only boring people are bored and I am not one of them. Peace and serenity are not boring. 


6. Limiting Belief:

"Everyone else drinks so it must be ok or not that bad"

Truth Statement: Our culture is wrong. Alcohol is the only addictive substance you have to justify not taking. If I feel negative feelings about my drinking, that is something to explore.
